My primary approach is play-based, with flexible technique to ensure dog-focused learning that results in a well-behaved and happy dog.
I don't label myself as positive, balanced, etc, because I don't believe in one-method-fits-all. I keep an open mind and have learned from different ideologies throughout my career. This variety of experience enables me to respect training preferences and provide realistic education for each client. I take a holistic view when creating a training plan, and consider genetics, history, social dynamics, emotional state, and motivations behind behavior.
Since private training is customized to deliver the best value for your investment, I encourage in-person evaluations to establish your timeline and cost. During this meeting we will discuss options based on needs, goals, and possible outcomes to provide you a more accurate estimate.
TWC is an education course and training system certified by Ivan Balabanov. This system sets a new standard for dog training excellence, because it prioritizes dog-centric learning and is not restrained by one particular narrative or agenda. It emphasizes the importance of motivation, biological influences, and the quality of interaction when training. I chose this certification because it has proven to be a superior system with diverse applications, and visible supporting evidence after testing against other training approaches. It draws upon a wealth of scientific research and studies, as well as Ivan’s 40+ years of knowledge as a trainer, competitor, breeder, scholar and teacher. Read more about TWC.
Absolutely. Consistency and understanding is important for lifelong success. I'm happy to involve anyone who has a desire to learn!
Training can start as soon as they're home, but remember that they are puppies! For pups 6 months and under my focus is providing support while they encounter how the human world works, with lower expectations of obedience. The right quality of guidance during this chaotic time is important to help pups develop stability and form healthy relationships, which can prevent future problems.
These programs are an investment, and more time increases the success rate. Adapting to a new environment, developing trust, and forming new/consistent behavior patterns takes time. The length of my programs allow me to prioritize your dog's well-being and foster a higher quality of learning. I limit the number of dogs in my home to ensure your dog is treated as a family member. I understand it's hard to be apart that long, which is why all Board & Trains include some Weekends at Home, so you can practice and catch up with your pup!
